Vladimir the Medico appeared as a minor character in Mysterioso, then in a short series of rather vapid vignettes written in 1985. He seemed to be associated with some vague political conflicts which I liked, so in 1986 I concocted a paranoid story where his medical career was threatened by falsified evidence. He lay dormant until 1993, when the story published as Anarchic Hospital Tales seemed an appropriate setting for him.
